Ancient Rainbow Consciousness Healing

I had the most amazing day today!!  (I know, I know, I say that every day, but again it really was the most amazing day).  I had a meeting with a woman named Barbara Coman, Ph.D.  Barbara works with another woman, Marilyn Utz, and they are the only team teachers for this energy healing technique in the world.  Barbara and Marilyn have agreed to do a mini-workshop here in Groton on Wednesday, February 18th from 6:30-8pm.  In the workshop they invite us to experience an ancient form of energetic healing, Kahuna ARCH, which uses the full spectrum of light frequencies and has the ability to heal instantaneously.  This form of energy healing has been used by the Rainbow people of Hawaii, Tahiti, and Egypt.  Workshop participants will receive a direct experience, learn how to use it in your daily life, and to recognize the power of beliefs and emotions and they role they play in healing dis-ease.  Speaking with Barbara is like feeling pure white light and I look forward to taking the workshop and then moving forward and becoming certified in this energy therapy!  For more information check out my workshops tab on my website...  Until next time, Stay warm, Janet

Breast Cancer Survivor founded SIS

This Sunday I met a lovely woman at the most not obvious place imaginable...  A motorcycle show at the OnCenter in Syracuse.  I was drawn to her booth because of the necklace she was wearing - a sikorsky crystal (beautiful) and we began to chat.  She began to talk about the organization SIS which she was fundraising for.  Interesting that I am trained in Cancer Massage through Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital and this is an organization for individuals battling breast cancer...

The organization called SIS (Sustain Inspire Survive) is a non profit organization created to provide financial assistance to families in need when challenged with breast cancer.  A breast cancer diagnosis brings with it a wide range of fear, anxiety and uncertainty. I have found that many women confide in me that they fear "not being a woman" anymore.  Our society has put so much sexual emphasis on womens breasts that this diagnosis can make a woman really question who she is.   With all of the emotional challenge, many women are also faced with an enormous increased financial strain.  Needing to make the choice between paying for treatment or putting food on the table for their children.

Andrea Caruso, founder of SIS (2005) and breast cancer survivor, was a single mom with two daughters.  She was fortunate to have the emotional and financial support of her sister.  With a personal understanding of this challenge she set out to help others who might not have the benefit of someone like her sister.  In her restored health, she was impassioned to create this organization to collect and distribute funding to those in need.  Their largest fund raiser is their annual calendar.  Each year the calendar features 12 beautifully artistic photographic interpretations of survivors' own thoughts about life since their diagnosis.

Many volunteer opportunities exist within the organization.  Please look at their website (www.helpsis.org) or phone (585) 730 5720 if you are interested in helping.  If you would like to organize a fund raiser in our area, please let me know.  I know personally I have been touched by breast cancer within my own family, and it seems to me that most people I talk with either know someone close or work with someone who currently has, or has had breast cancer. Help them and help yourself by volunteering, it feels good in your heart and creates a very positive vibration!!

The Economy, What Do YOU Want to Believe?

I have been listening and paying close attention to the conversations around me (duh, like this is anything new...) and I find it sad that so many people are "buying into" the idea/belief that the economy is bad, etc...  Buddha says what you think is what you become.  Another way to put this in my mind is that we are not asked to choose (from the Universe) between wealth or poverty, but to choose fair exchange for providing necessary and meaningful service.  I have read that it takes 2% of the population to change the collective consciousness so I am hopeful that at least 2% of us are not allowing what the news and the government is handing out...  Lets focus our thoughts on abundance.  Maybe take some time to think about what your idea of fair exchange for meaningful service is.  Send your thoughts here.  Choose to see life as abundant.  Choose to believe that unexpected miracles happen every day and that you are so loved and always provided for and that you can change our world by being part of that 2%.   Seeing you filled up, rather than empty is my choice!  Be well, Janet

Stones, what do they say to you?

Yesterday I spent a few hours at one of my favorite shops - two hawks gallery in Homer, NY.  Lee and Dave, the proprietors, are so warm and inviting.  They have so much knowledge about the stones they offer that I could spend hours there.  One of my favorite parts of visiting them, besides holding the stones and feeling their vibrations, is that I get to  listen to their stories about where the stones come from, who mined them,  how they came to be in NY, and how people find the exact one that speaks to them!  So I purchased a number of stones that I will use in my massage practice and also one very special one that is set in a ring.  The ring is moonstone.  The energetic qualities of moonstone are that it is a stone of new beginnings.  It is strongly connected to intuition and improves emotional intelligence.  It is a stone filled with receptive, passive, feminine energy.  It balances male-female energy, and it draws out old emotional patterning so that it can be understood than dissolved  Moonstone's vibration is linked to the pineal gland and balances the hormonal system and attunes to the biorhythmic clock.  Ancient healers used an elixir blended with moonstone to cure insomnia and to prevent sleepwalking.
With so many stones available sometimes it can get confusing and overwhelming to find the one for you.  That's why I recommend paying a visit to Lee and Dave, or purchasing one of the many books available about stones.  The one that I refer to most often is "The Crystal Bible" written by Judy Hall.  It is thorough and has pretty pictures (yeah!) to help me identify the stones that I have.  Some of the other books focus on the healing qualities or stones used in ritual, or love stones.  Be aware of what you want from your stones so that you can refer to the book that is most related to your  desire.  And, or course, if you have questions please ask me.  I may not have the answers but I probably can point you in the right direction!!  Be well, Janet

Community, intentionally creating the one we desire

Today my thoughts are about community...  I have this dream which I intend to make a reality someday, whereby I live in a collective or community that is self supporting.   Where all members of the community offer a service that can be bartered (ie. massage, energy work, herbs and medicines, carpenters, cooks, teachers, seamstresses, etc...) so money as we know it is not necessary.  Where the precious assets are people rather than things;  where we are not judged or rated by what we have rather by who we truly are.  This is the world that I choose to live in.  I will continue to hold this vision until it moves from non-physical thought into physical reality.  Won't you join me??  Be well, Janet

Moon cycles, very helpful energy for self examination!!

I have been learning about the moon and its quarters and what energy is represented by them.  So I thought since the new moon on the 26th is coupled with a solar eclipse it is a good time to share the little bit of knowledge that I have...
Here's a quick run down on the different energies of the moon and how you might want to focus your attention / intention during these times:
New Moon (happening on the 26th) is a great time to ask for a blessing of a new project or venture, healing of any kind, personal growth, new relationships, goals, etc.;  Full Moon is when you may want to release those things that do not serve you anymore...  unhealthy habits or relationships, dis-ease, negative thoughts and emotions, past hurts, etc. ; the time between the New Moon and the Full Moon is called the waxing moon.  This is a good time to attract what you requested during the New Moon.  The time between the Full Moon and the next New Moon is called the waning moon.  This is a great time to banish things in our lives that we no longer wish to carry around with us.

I keep a moon journal it helps me to self reflect on those things in my life and circumstances that I would like to enhance or change in someway.  When I write in my moon journal I consider the definitions for the full, new, waning and waxing moons.  Then I prioritize those items that I would like to improve or change and I place them next to the moon phase and make a list.  I review the list (probably way to many times than is necessary, but alas that is who I am) and consider how many of the items are the direct result of one particular need or problem, then I know what I want to concentrate on first.  After a little while I find that some of the items on my list are no longer necessary, so I scratch them off and write the date beside them.   I review the list on a "goal or blue moon".    This moon occurs when the moon with its 28 day cycle appears twice within the same calendar month, due to that month's 31 day duration.  So this is the simple version of what can be a very complicated process and I hope it is helpful.  I know it has been for me!
Love and light (moonlight and sunlight!), Janet

Frostbite, not recommended...

Brrrrr... today is freezing in Groton, NY.   High temperature today was 9 degrees.  After shoveling my sidewalk  I had a hard time feeling my legs, and that was only 15 minutes outside -- WITH  LONG JOHNS ON...  This got me thinking I should take a hot shower and massage my legs, BUT NO, according to the National Safety Council this is a misconception. Although massage is a welcome salve to most winter ills (backaches from shoveling, slipping on the ice, etc.) the health experts state that immediate massage can be harmful to frostbitten skin.  They recommend that you seek medical attention immediately and that you remove clothing that could restrict circulation, slightly elevate the affected area of the body and stay warm.  So, although I think massage and energy work are the great healers of everything.... evidently not for frostbite.

So, I recommend staying inside with a hot cup of tea and a good book!!!

And, don't forget that our pets can get frostbite too...  Don't leave them outside for more than the time it takes to "take care of business".

Laugh, love and stay warm!!  J.

Do your body a favor... Eat Dark Chocolate!!

Craving Chocolate??  Here are some wonderful benefits of DARK CHOCOLATE that may help to reduce the "guilt" of eating chocolate...

Dark Chocolate contains:  Neutral fat and no cholesterol; antioxidants to help reduce free radicals in your blood stream; calcium (more than 8oz of milk); flavanoids (vasodialators, thus decreasing blood pressure); magnesium which we can never have enough of.

Dark Chocolate triggers the body to release:  Endorphins - your bodies natural pain killers; PHA (the chemical produced by the body when falling in love -- yeah!); and neurotransmitters, also known as seratonin.

Next time you reach for that Dark chocolate you can let your body know what a gift you are giving it and ENJOY!!!

Morning Thoughts: To Be Me

Streams of consciousness that float through my being, sometimes I am able to arrange them into wonderful (my own opinion...) words that create a vision.  These are my "wonderings":

Constant, stable, tall
A beacon of light riding the movement of wind.
Connection, joy and laughter.
My heritage,
life with the possibilities of magic,
peace, and the belief in other worlds.
Rich, deep, juicy and full
Mixed with cold, tangled confinement
given or self-imposed?

As the light peeks out
Streams of color swirling with the purple moon
the Goddess within - old, young, wise
Is connected
Is Home

What's In Your Carpet Bag??

Sara and I were watching Mary Poppins and I began to compare my life with hers...  Not really comparable, but many similarities in thoughts and "being".  Anyway, the scene where Mary Poppins gets the job at the Banks Residence and "accepts" the position of Nanny to Jane and Michael and then goes upstairs to "unpack" and settle into her room brought so many things to my mind...  Like, we all come here with a carpet bag.  It starts out empty and then life tends to fill it up with many things that are well out of our control, but what is in our control is what we choose to pull out of the carpet bag.  Mary chose a hat rack (practical) a plant (beauty) and a mirror (to see her own reflection).  When I am faced with a challenging situation I remind myself that it is my choice as to what I pull out of my carpet bag.  I can choose a "programmed" response (anger, jealousy, revenge, self-pity, etc.) or I can take a deep breath and choose LOVE.  That is the energy that I most often choose, but alas I am human and sometimes lean on those learned responses that have served me in the past, and yet, may not be in my best interest or the best interest of the other party at the time.  So, here's my question today.  We all have a carpet bag and what are you going to choose to pull out??  With love, Janet

Orbs

Orbs Orbs Everywhere...  Last night there were orbs all over the church.  I saw them in my living room, then came downstairs for a meeting and they were sparkling in the corners, then later let Bru out around midnight and coming down the back stairs it was like fairy dust... Humm wonder what the message was??  Pay attention?  Turn the heat up?  Sometimes it takes me a while to "hear" them because I am so in awe of the beauty and magnificence of the orbs. I have captured them on film many times as have many others whom have been here! The perfection of the geometry of them is breath-taking!!

For anyone who has not been to the church I invite you to come and experience the feeling of peace and optimism the orbs help to create.  I believe that they are gateways to the band of workers who maintain "residence" here (from 1883).  I have seen on many occasions two entities that are quite solid looking.   Lillian (whom I believe to be Lillian Marsh who was one of the band of workers) has been sitting on the bench in my bedroom (original from the building of the church) just quietly looking at me when I wake up, and I have seen her walking down the stairs and she has opened the door to my office.  She wears a long grey dress, a bit serious she is...  The other spirit whom has identified herself as Fannie (I believe she is Fannie Perigo, also one of the band or workers) is quite a joker.  She teases Brutus - rolling the large exercise ball towards him from behind the door.  It took me a while to figure out why he was "nervous" around the ball, then when it happened while I was sitting in the livingroom it was quite clear.  She appears to be a small woman with a "pixie" look about her.  Her presence makes me laugh!!

So, now that you have heard about some of the happenings here, please feel free to share your experiences...  Great way to be on this planet - open to many other realities!!
Till next time, laugh... love... and be open!  J.

Hopi Elders Speak

As you may be aware, I co-organized the Grandmothers Speak event this past October, and had the opportunity to actually speak with and listen to 8 of the 13 Indigenous Grandmothers Council.  They truly filled me with hope.  They are committed to change the consciousness of our world through BEING PEACE.  They represent diversity at its finest!    One of the gifts that came from organizing this event was lots of information from all over - everyone wanted to share what knowledge they had, to be part of this life enhancing happening.  I received a prayer from the Hopi Elders, entitled Hopi Elders Speak.  It feels so right on to me -- like when something rings so true you can feel it within your entire body -- thats what I feel when I read this.  I hope it inspires you too!

Hopi Elders Speak:
"You have been telling people that this is the eleventh hour.  Now you must go back and tell the people that this is the hour.  And there are things to be considered:
Where are you living?
What are you doing?
What are your relationships?
Are you in right relation?
Where is your water?
Know your garden!
It is time to speak your truth.  Create your community.  Be good to each other.  And do not look outside yourself for the leader.  This could be a good time!
There is a river flowing now very fast.
It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid.
They will try to hold onto the shore.  They will feel they are being torn apart, and they will suffer greatly.  Know the river has its destination!
The Elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open and our heads above the water.  See who is in there with you and celebrate!
At this time in history we are to take nothing personally.  For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt.  The time of the lone wolf is over.  Gather Yourselves!  Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary.
All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration!
We are the ones we've been waiting for."
The Elders

Hopi Nation

So, with that bit of wisdom comes choices...  Can you let go and trust that the Universe has your best interest at heart and you are always taken care of, or are you going to hold onto the thoughts and beliefs that may not serve you??  Its up to you.  My dream is that we all bathe in the river and celebrate the rightness and goodness of this world!  -- Janet

Connective Tissue .. Use it or Lose It...

Good morning dear ones!  Today I thought I would throw in some interesting information about connective tissue (CT).  This is the tissue that if the rest of your body "disappeared" your connective tissue would remain --  leaving a COMPLETE replica of your physical body.  Pretty cool, huh...  With that said, here are some amazing facts about connective tissue:  It is one of the most abundant and widely distributed tissue of the body.  It is a continuous substance, and every single part of the body is connected to every other part of the body by virtue of its network.  In its various forms, connective tissue has many functions -- it binds together, supports and strengthens other body tissues; protects and insulates internal organs, compartmentalizes structures such as skeletal muscles, and is the major transport system within the body (blood and adipose tissue are both connective tissue); and is the main sit of immune responses.  The things that I find fascinating and amazing (which of course it the entire human body -- wow what a gift we have received!) about CT is that all healing begins here.  CT generates energy - as in electrical currents -- and it can then communicate (conduct) to every other cell in the body - WOW!  Interestingly enough, when warmed (like through massage) CT becomes a shape shifter.  The hyalouronic acid in dense connective tissues ground substance enables it to shape shift from a more solid state to a more gell state.  This process is called thixotrophy.  Working with CT can help increase range of motion and improve posture and body alignment.    So if you think about it, you can change your shape by working with your connective tissue.  With movement (and massage) your CT becomes more fluid, pliable and resilient, being more solid and inflexible when it "sits without being disturbed".  With disuse the CT surrounding your muscles becomes a little colder, less energized, sluggish and loses its full quality and ability to soften, stretch and flex.
So now that you know about connective tissue the choice is up to  you...  Get massage, exercise, stretch and drink LOTS of WATER... or FREEZE...
Signing out to go to our local gym (Groton Fitness Center) and begin my "shapeshifting" for the day!!  J.

Energy Work on Pets

Well dear readers as I sit with my four legged child (Brutus) I am overwhelmed with such gratitude for his presence. What a gift our "pets" are... AND how amazing that they find us, huh??! Brutus came from my dear friend Sidney, who has been breeding Dobermans since "time began" so to speak. When Brutus was born I didn't know I was going to have a dog. I was living in an apartment and working on closing on the church so I was not in a position to be a dog owner but... He was meant to be mine. We even "look alike". I feel so connected to his heart -- he knows when I am sad, happy and REALLY happy (he bounces off the wall when that happens!). He is quite spoiled, but not in a bad way. He knows what I think (in my mind this is very true). Anyway, because he is so special to me I like to do things for him that help him to healthy and happy. He receives energy work on a daily basis. We begin by connecting heart chakras and then he eagerly lies down to continue the balancing and removing stale energy that he has accumulated during the previous day. I highly recommend this for any pet owner. It brings you closer and creates such a joyous vibration!! And since Bru is now calling me I must sign out. May you create that vibration with your own four legged "children" and add to the collective energy of the Universe!
Laugh, Love and Be well,
Janet

Good morning snowbirds...
Quite a cold one today, but my heart is warmed from some wonderful information I received from my friend Joan.  There is a sacred event happening in Arizona April 18-28, Return of the Ancestors.  For those of you who had the privilege of sharing time with the Grandmothers here in Groton in October, you may be interested in participating in this event in April.

Beginning Earth Day, April 18, 2009 for 11 days, Indigenous Elders and Future Wisdom Keepers will make a world pilgrimage through Northern Arizona.  This pilgrimage has been prophesied by their ancestors, The Hope, The Mayan, Elders from the Mountains of the Andes, Elders from the plains of Africa, and many more...  Come as One, speak as One, and share their wisdom with the world. They will create new guide stone tablets of prophesy for the upcoming 500 years... as their ancestors did 500 years ago.

This gathering's commitment to ceremony is a focal point offering people of the world the privilege to witness councils sharing wisdom from their ancestors, songs and sacred ceremonies.  This intention is to bring inspiration to the world, thus birthing clear decisions and manifesting a conduit of hope for our children, the future Wisdom Keepers of the World!
